Pensacola Christian College

Pensacola Christian College (PCC) is a private and fundamentalist college founded in 1974. Located in Pensacola, Florida, the school was established by Dr. Arlin and Beka Horton in pursuit of their mission to provide education from a Christian perspective. The couple also founded a Christian grade school in 1952 and the Pensacola Theological Seminary in 1998.

The main goal of the institution is to provide students with a Christian-based education that will promote their spiritual, intellectual, moral, cultural and social development. Service to God is also a major part of the school’s teachings.

Beliefs

Pensacola Christian College trains students to pursue their academics as a way to give service to Jesus Christ. The school puts value on the King James version of the Bible and uses it for all its ministers and classroom instruction. It also believes in the superior Greek text of the Bible but does not follow the teachings of Calvinism, Modernism, Neo-orthodoxy and the charismatic movement.

Location

The Pensacola Christian College campus is in the state of Florida specifically in Pensacola. Apart from its main buildings, it has an auditorium The Crown Centre also known as the Campus Church.

Tuition

Compared to other liberal arts colleges that promote a Christian-based education, Pensacola’s tuition is more affordable. For a four-year study, a learner pays only $23,988 of tuition including room and board. In truth, this fee is good only for three years but students who pursue their education in the campus for four years gets to enjoy their fourth year free of charge. This allow a student to enjoy as much as $50,000 savings.

Financial Aid

Pensacola Christian College offers grants awarded under the federal government student aid program. The school also offers A Beka Foundation loans of up to $4,000 each year. A student worker program is in place as well providing students with an opportunity to earn an income to pay for their tuition.

A great incentive that new freshman students can enjoy if free tuition, room and board in their senior year particularly to those who enroll in the one-year-free PCC package.

Student Population

The school has more than 4,000 undergraduate students representing minority and international students from more than 60 countries.

Academic Areas of Study

Pensacola Christian College provides undergraduate and graduate programs. The undergraduate programs has more than 60 majors in the areas of business, education, communicative arts, music, arts and sciences, basic sciences and engineering and nursing. Graduate studies can be pursued in the fields of Bible, education, music, divinity, ministry, nursing, communicative arts and business administration.

Primary Accreditation

Pensacola Christian College is still in the process of obtaining its accreditation. It has already been given the candidate status by the Transnational Association of Christian Schools and Colleges which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

The school’s nursing program, however, is approved by the Florida State Board of Nursing. As such, nursing graduates can apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.

Athletic Teams

PCC’s Eagles team is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association. It competes in various sports such as men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball.
