Clearwater Christian College was established in 1966 on Tampa Bay, Florida as a tertiary educational institution. It also offers quality online education today for the convenience of students who do not desire to attend classes on campus.
As a Christ-centered, bible-based liberal arts college, the school aims to teach students the fundamentals of Christian faith while pursuing their college education through the right environment and tools. It provides majors in Biblical studies as well as in humanities, business, education, fine arts and sciences. In total, the school offers 26 majors and 17 minors. Recently, however, the institution has seen a rise in enrollment in the sciences division such as in psychology, biology, premed, exercise and sports science and in mathematics. Students are admitted to the school based on their entry tests and school grades.
Beliefs
Although the institution is not affiliated with any denomination, the majority of its students, faculty and staff belong to the Baptist and independent Bible church organizations. It also recognizes Protestant Christianity.
Tuition
For both local and international students in the undergraduate programs, the annual tuition ranges from $12,500 to $15,000. Tuition for the postgraduate programs ranges from $5,000 to $7,000.
Financial Aid
Clearwater Christian College makes private education affordable to its students. It provides scholarships, grants and available. It has a financial aid team that assists families in meeting their requirements according to their specific situation. Filing of the free application for the federal student aid (FAFSA) normally starts after January 1st of each year.
Student Population
This Christian college accommodates students regardless of their religious denomination. It has a student population of around 600 to more than 900.
Academic Areas of Study
Clearwater Christian College offers undergraduate and postgraduate education. Students pursuing undergraduate programs can enroll in either an associate degree or bachelor’s degree program. For their majors, they can choose from six areas – biblical studies, business, education, fine arts, sciences and humanities.
Majors available under biblical studies are bible, church ministries and pastoral studies. In business, accounting and business administration majors are available. Those who are into fine arts can pursue either communication arts or music. In the area of sciences, majors available are in biology, exercise and sport science, mathematics, pre-med and psychology while majors in education are in biology, elementary, English, music, physical education and social studies. The humanities offers majors in English, general studies, history, humanities, interdisciplinary studies and pre-law.
Primary Accreditation
Clearwater Christian College was first given accreditation in 1984 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. It is also a member of the Council for Independent Colleges, the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida and the National Christian College Athletic Association.
Athletic Teams
Sports is an important part of the Clearwater Christian College education. Known as the Cougars, the institution offers men’s and women’s sports that allow student-athletes to compete in regional and national events. Its athletic program aims to develop excellence in sports among students in honor of Christ. The school strongly believes that being into sports is a great opportunity to develop Christian leadership.
