Roberts Wesleyan College has a number of undergraduate and graduate degrees and programs. Incoming undergraduate students can study subjects like art, math, computer science, education, language and literature, business, ministry, nursing, and music. The resulting degrees these programs confer onto students include the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science.
Graduate programs include business, psychology, social work, and business. Graduate students also have the option of applying to the Northeastern Seminary through the graduate college.
The graduate college offers several online master’s degrees, including a Master of Science in Health Administration, a Master of Education in Literacy Education, a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership and a Master of Science in Nursing Education.
RWC students can also earn certificates in programs such as nursing education, accounting, and corporate security management. The Certified Management Accountant certificate program includes exam preparation courses.
About Roberts Wesleyan College
Roberts Wesleyan College is a small, Christian liberal arts college in Rochester, New York. It is associated with the Free Methodists in North America. Originally, Benjamin Titus Roberts established the college in 1866 as the Chili Seminary.
While the school still has a seminary, it now offers more than more than 70 degrees and programs on the bachelor, master and doctoral levels. RWC’s school of theology, the Northeastern Seminary, confers a number of degrees, including a Master of Divinity: The school also offers certificates in theology.
The US News and World Report Ugives the school excellent marks. It was ranked 73rd on the news site’s Regional Universities North list and 44th on its Best Colleges for Veterans list. As well, it is ranked 30th on the Best Value Schools list, showing that despite being a private university, it is accessible to students with smaller educational budgets. It is somewhat competitive, with 65% of applicants being accepted for admission.
Roberts Wesleyan College boasts a number of impressive graduates. Professional opera singer Sharon Sweet, US Ambassador to Singapore Kirk Wagar, Olympic medalist Jennifer Suhr and children’s book author and illustrator Timothy D. Bellavia are all graduates of RWC.
Roberts Wesleyan College Accreditation
Roberts Wesleyan College receives its accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The school’s art department receives additional accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Finally, RWC is a member of a number of organizations, including the Council of Independent Colleges and Rochester Area Colleges.
Roberts Wesleyan College Application Requirements
The fees associated with applying to college present a hardship for some prospective students. However, Roberts Wesleyan College takes that part of applying to college out of the equation, making applying to the school easier and cheaper.
Prospective students will still need to follow through with the application process, however. First-year students, transfer and international students share a similar application process, which is outlined below.
To apply for undergraduate admission, students must:

- Submit CLT, ACT or SAT scores
- Turn in transcripts from high school or college
- Send in a letter of recommendation (optional)
- Send in proof of English proficiency (international students)
Admission to the graduate programs will vary somewhat between departments. The following outline represents the most common materials that incoming graduate students will be asked for. However, it is wise for prospective students to contact the people in charge of the program they’re interested in and inquire about specific application requirements.
Here is a general list of what incoming graduate students must submit:
- Proof of a bachelor’s or master’s degree earned from an accredited college or university
- Transcripts
- Proof of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- The online application
- Letters of recommendation
- Resume or CV
- Application essay
- Proof of English proficiency
Initially, the school allows incoming undergraduate students to self report their test scores. However, students who do submit their scores in this form must eventually provide the school with their official test scores. Transfer students may be asked to submit both their high school and their most recent college’s transcripts, depending on how many college credits they’ve taken.
Incoming students are required by RWC to meet the school’s admissions standards. Standardized test scores must be at least 17 for the ACT, 59 for the CLT or 940 for the SAT. Incoming students must have a 2.8 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
The school also advises international or homeschooled students to contact the school’s admissions counselors to receive guidance about their eligibility. International students are likely to be asked for proof of English proficiency, which can come from taking the TOEFL or the IELTS tests.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate tuition rates at Roberts Wesleyan College are the same, regardless of a student’s residency status. All undergraduates pay just over $31,000 for tuition (as of this writing). They can expect to pay almost $7,000 for housing. Just over $4,000 will go to meals and fess will cost them around $1,500.
Tuition rates among graduate students vary, depending on which program students are enrolled in. Generally speaking, graduate tuition is going to be around $30,000 to $35,000 per year. Some programs include the cost of books in their tuition rates. Housing, fees and other expenses vary. In light of that, prospective graduate students should connect with the department they’d like to apply to in order to get more specific information about tuition costs.
Students who wish to receive financial aid should fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Once the school has this document, the student becomes eligible for federal, state and private financial aid, including loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships. The school also works with employer-provided tuition assistance programs and military benefits, like the Yellow Ribbon Program and the GI Bill.
