Divided into six departments with a 14:1 learner-faculty ratio, Crown College upholds Philippians 3:7-11 when delivering four associate, 47 bachelor’s, and eight master’s programs. For instance, the Global and Cultural Studies (A.A.) follows a 65-credit, Biblical-oriented curriculum online for broadened international knowledge. Chaired by Dr. Tom McCracken, the 125-credit Criminal Justice (B.S.) offers a Law Enforcement Minor in online seven-week courses like Emergency Management. Exclusively in Saint Bonifacius, the Video and Film Production (B.A.) utilizes the Digital Arts Lab to culminate 125 credits of media creation classes. The 72-credit Master of Divinity (M.Div.) admits 100 percent online cohorts across 10 concentrations, such as Pastoral Leadership, Spiritual Formation, and Church Development. On Canvas, the Nonprofit Management (M.B.A.) immerses aspiring executives in a 42-credit, 2.5-year sequence applying good business ethics. Other opportunities are the General Studies (A.A.), Medical Biology (B.A.), Discipleship Ministries (B.S.), Elementary Education (B.S.), Counseling (M.A.), and Social Science Research (M.A.).
About Crown College
Crown College originated on October 13, 1916, when Reverend J.D. and Harriet Williams began the Alliance Training Home to provide Christian ministry courses to 40 evening students. In 1917, Dr. Albert Benjamin Simpson, the C&MA founder, visited its first Sherburne Avenue campus. By August 1935, the Lutheran Seminary was acquired near Hamline University for Old Main. The next year, it was renamed the St. Paul Bible Institute to reflect added college-level degrees. In 1943, Dr. Strohm created its lasting motto of “Vision, Training, Service.” The first bachelor’s program led to the St. Paul Bible College name on January 1, 1959. After its 50th anniversary, it acquired its present 173-acre Saint Bonifacius campus by Lake Waconia in 1969. Named Crown College in 1992, it continued advancing graduate studies and 21st-century online learning since its first computer lab in 1985. Endowed for $8.3 million, Crown now educates 1,400 Storm from 20 countries with 18 clubs and resources like Watne Memorial Library.
The U.S. News & World Report named Crown College the Midwest’s 46th best regional institution with a 54 percent four-year graduation rate. On Niche, Crown has the 39th best theological studies, 464th toughest admissions, and 1,374th most campus diversity. Money magazine graded Crown “A-” among America’s 50 colleges adding the most value. PayScale estimated a median mid-career wage of $71,300 for Crown College alums. College Factual honored Crown for the 214th best communication arts, 56th top international studies, 247th best psychology, and 61st top Biblical vocation degrees nationally. Washington Monthly declared Crown the 189th best baccalaureate school with the 43rd most Peace Corps volunteers. In 2018, Crown College accepted the Access Course of the Year Award. Crown College also stands within Forbes’ 18th best metropolitan for careers.
Crown College Accreditation Details
On May 24, 2012, Crown College received an official reaffirmation letter from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCACS) for extending Level III PEAQ accreditation through 2022 under its 16th president, Dr. Joel Wiggins, who earned a National Business Incubation Association Award. Based 436 miles southeast via Interstate 94 in Chicago, this large 19-state Upper Midwest accreditor is authorized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to evaluate for excellence standards. The Nursing Department was accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) in October 2012. Teacher Education Department offerings are approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching for certification. Since 2014, Crown College has been accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) too.
Crown College Application Requirements
Admission to Crown College is labeled “selective” by the U.S. News & World Report since only 471 of the 838 Fall 2017 applicants were victorious for 56 percent acceptance. The CCCU member considers freshman Storm who’ve culminated college-prep secondary curricula or the General Educational Development certificate. Four years of Language Arts and Math are highly preferred. On average, admitted first-years present a 3.36 GPA, 1019 SAT, and 21 ACT mark. Entrance exams are waived for transfers with 16+ non-remedial credits graded at least “C” at accredited colleges. The Office of Admission requires I-20 immigrants to prove English proficiency with a 500 paper or 61 internet TOEFL score. Note the Nursing (B.S.N.) stipulates a minimum 2.75 GPA, Basic Life Support certification, and negative TB results. Online graduate programs generally seek bachelor’s GPAs above 2.5, except for the MBA mandating 3.0 averages. Check for prerequisites, such as six Theology credits for the Ministry Leadership (M.A.).
Crown College has two-week rolling undergrad admission until August 20th for Fall, January 10th for Spring, and May 15th for Summer. Incoming freshmen applying before January 1st lower the $20 fee to free though. Admissions deposits of $150 are only refundable until May 1st too. The School of Online Studies & Graduate School led by Dr. Fawn McCracken forgoes deadlines due to seven-week scheduling. Interested students utilize the ICS Portal to complete the four-part Crown Application online. Official documents like registrar transcripts are mailed to 8700 College View Drive in Saint Bonifacius, MN 55375. Test scores are filed electronically with SAT code 6639 or ACT code 2152. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2019-2020, Crown College will charge traditional full-time undergrads $13,240 per term or $26,480 annually. The technology and wellness fees are $270 and $220 respectively. Nursing (B.S.N.) majors add $1,480 every semester. Studying part-time in Saint Bonifacius incurs $1,100 per credit. Living at the Hennepin County campus’ housing like Tewinkel Hall adds $4,560 by year. Standard meal plans for Dining Center cost $4,370 extra. Crown budgets $1,300 for textbooks and $4,506 for personal needs. Annual undergrad attendance equals $40,776 on-site and $33,906 with parents. Online Canvas courses are cheaper at $460 per bachelor’s credit. The Graduate School bills $540 per credit usually, but the MBA costs $560 or $23,520 total.
According to the NCES College Navigator, the Financial Aid Department helps 94 percent of new full-time Crown Storm collect $2.11 million overall for the median assistance of $14,972 each. Collegiate awards include the Swenson Family Business Scholarship, Elizabeth Hustad-Decker Memorial Scholarship, Howard Jones Chair of Evangelism Scholarship, Marcia Worden Missions Scholarship, Ague-Johnson Family Scholarship, Maurice Crabtree Memorial Scholarship, Chreia Scholarship, and Leda Grace French Scholarship. The JD Williams Scholars Program gifts $2,000 to $7,000 for outstanding leaders with minimum 2.75 GPAs. The Charles and Ellen Thompson Ministry Loan Program forgives debt by 20 percent per year for full-time Christian service. Submitting FAFSA forms coded 002383 would calculate Perkins, Stafford, Graduate Plus, and Parents Plus amounts. Financially needy undergrads qualify for up to $10,095 from the Federal and Pell Grants combined. The Bursar’s Office disburses Employee Tuition Benefit (ETB) benefits for partial to full tuition. Midwest-based options like the Minnesota State Grant, Minnesota Teacher Candidate Grant, and Minnesota Dislocated Worker Grant also apply.
