San Diego Christian College

San Diego Christian College (SDCC) is a private four-year institution situated in El Cajon, California. It offers degrees in Bachelor of Arts and Sciences and aims to provide its students with excellent college liberal arts education focusing on the Bible.

Established in 1970 as the Christian Heritage College, the school was initially supported by the Scott Memorial Baptist Church. Today, it is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

San Diego Christian College values a liberal arts education focusing on biblical principles. The school also promotes effective interaction among students regardless of their cultural background and instills self discipline as students establish an active personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Location

SDCC is located in the suburb of San Diego in the state of California. Specifically, it is at 21000 Greenfield Drive in El Cajon. The campus provides 24 hours security to ensure the safety of students as well as the school’s faculty and staff.

Tuition

As of 2006, the annual tuition at SDCC for a full-time student costs nearly $16,000. This is for students residing within the state of California. The fee does not include books and supplies ($1,242), room and board on campus ($6,710) and other expenses. The estimated total cost of attending SDCC including living expenses and financial is $22,225 each year.

Financial Aid

SDCC offers financial assistance to its students able to show academic excellence and good moral character. Assistance is provided in the form of grants (Pell Grants), scholarships and direct loans.

All first time undergraduate students enrolled at this evangelical college receive financial aid. In addition, 94 percent avail of grants and scholarships while 79 percent receive loans.

Student Population

San Diego Christian College has a population of around 549 students. Majority are enrolled in the school’s undergraduate program.

As of fall 2009, SDCC had 421 undergraduate students majority of which are aged below 25 years old. Of the undergraduates, eight percent were in part-time status.

This Christian college in El Cajon offers baccalaureate programs particularly Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degrees. Majors being offered are on biology, business, management, marketing, communication, journalism, English, English language and literature, family and consumer sciences, human development, history, liberal arts and sciences, psychology, theology, biblical studies, aeronautics, aerospace science, visual and performing arts and music.

Primary Accreditation

SDCC was first accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Schools in 1982 and then by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in 1984.

In 2008, this not for profit institution received a reaffirmation of its accreditation from the Senior Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, this time as San Diego Christian College.

Athletic Team

San Diego Christian College’s athletic team plays in various sports such as cross country, basketball, baseball, track and field, volleyball as well as soccer. It is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Golden State Athletic Conference.
